Music Monday

Happy Memorial Day, everyone! In the last episode of Friday Five, I mentioned a Sousa march. I'm sure you all know which one I mean... I played it a week ago at the Mansfield Wind Symphony patriotic concert. Cue the march! Oh, and this one is conducted by the great Leonard Bernstein. Yay!

Friday Five

In honor of Memorial Day, today's Friday Five is full of red, white, and blue. Cue the Sousa march! (Oh wait, that's on Monday...)

Our first item is a stained glass-ish window cling from clingingimages. I think this would look great at the top of a window. (American Flag Patriotic Half Circle Window Cling Suncatcher, $10.00)

Is there anything cuter than a little girl in a tutu skirt? I don't think so. And one with a bustle on the back from Perry Style is even cuter! (Fantail Bustle Tutu, $60.00)

Maybe your little girl needs a cute clippie to go with her tutu skirt. How about a cupcake sculptured cupcake alligator clippie from Pretty Bows Boutique? (Red, White and Blue Cupcake Hair Clip, $5.00)

Having a picnic or BBQ? Even an indoor get-together could use some placemats. Crafts by KJ has some that would be great for this weekend or the 4th of July. (American Flag Print Reversible Placemats, $24.00)

Can't leave out the boys! Butterfly Baby Place offers t-shirts with applique neckties. Check out this all-star one. (Boys Neck Tie Applique Shirt, $20.00)

Music Monday

Near the end of the school year, one activity I love to do with my 3rd graders is introduce them to the instruments of the orchestra. I use an interactive game on Carnegie Hall's website, called "The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra." My kids LOVE playing this game. So if you have children at home who will need something to do this summer, please consider this game. It's fun, and will have them learning too.

Sunday Spotlight

Today's Sunday Spotlight comes from the Etsy Fort Worth Team! Take a look at a few of the wonderful artwork from blueskysunburn's Etsy shop.

It's springtime, which means flowers and... butterflies! This beautiful 8" x 10" art print of a mixed media collage is professionally printed on cotton linen paper, and arrives in a cellophane sleeve with a chipboard backing. I just love the colors on this piece. (Butterflies art print, $20.00)

Next is an art print of a blueskysunburn original mixed media painting, "Hard to Bear." This peaceful art print is 5" x 7" with a white border surrounding it on all sides, and is printed and shipped in the same way as the "Butterflies" print. ("Hard to Bear" art print, $14.00)

Finally, we'll take a look at an art print of "Beauty is Not Perfection," an original mixed media painting. This art print measures 4" x 9.25" (8" x 10" with white trim). This piece has a great message, but those little faces are what drew me into Jennifer's shop to begin with. ("Beauty is Not Perfection" art print, $20.00)

Music Monday

It's another rainy, stormy evening here in North TX. This Garth Brooks song came to mind as I thought of what to post today, and I came across this video using scenes from Sims 2. It's pretty neat. By the way, check out the woman's "faded flannel gown." :)

Enjoy!

Rock Band - one of my most favorite games - has finally gotten a couple of Flight of the Conchords' songs available for download. Yay! So to celebrate, here's one of my favorite of their songs. (Not that I've ever heard one I didn't like...)

Sunday Spotlight

For those of you wondering why I haven't posted anything in a while, it's because I've been busy! I had craft shows two weekends in a row, and this week I spent *not* feeling busy. It was nice. Of course, I still have crates of product sitting in the kitchen. Maybe this evening I'll finally put them away... :)

Today's Sunday Spotlight is yoopers. I bought one of her lovely craft show aprons to use the last two weekends, and it worked great! No more bending over to dig through the money box at every transaction, it was all right at my fingertips. Receipt book, calculator, pen, and change all in one spot. The only thing that would make it easier is to have a little coin holder like the car hops at Sonic have. :)

I bought one of her aprons with a zippered pocket in the middle. Very thankful for that zipper! (Festive Flowers Craft Vendor Apron with zipper pocket, $24.00)

You can also buy aprons with what yoopers calls "The Works." That means you get everything in the apron above, plus an extra business card or cell phone pocket and a key clasp. (Batik Circles Vendor Apron with the Works, $28.00)
